Dave Hatherton, NextEnergy CEO

Company founder Dave Hatherton has been involved in the development of geothermal energy for over 25 years.

Mr. Hatherton is currently CEO of NextEnergy Inc. He was recently awarded the 2007 Lifetime Leadership Award by the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition.

David Hatherton has been a leader in the domestic & international geothermal, renewable and energy efficiency industry for over 25 years. In 1980 he founded Earth Systems Inc., which trademarked the WaterFurnace in Canada and the USA, becoming the world's largest distributor of geothermal systems.

In 1983 Mr. Hatherton, with Dan Ellis (now President of ClimateMaster) expanded WaterFurnace into the U.S., co-founding WaterFurnace International (WFI). As the leader of many ventures, in all facets of geothermal technology, Mr. Hatherton was to shape and increase awareness and acceptance of Geothermal energy technology while WFI became the world's largest researcher, marketer and manufacturer of geothermal heating, cooling and domestic hot water delivery systems.

Randal Palach, President

Randal Palach has spent 30 years working in a wide variety of business environments. As a senior executive, he has extensive experience managing corporate structures and evolution in companies ranging from Astral Communications ($200 million in annual sales and 4,000 retail clients), to ITW ($225 million in annual sales and 700 dealers), and Unisource ($250 million in annual sales). Mr. Palach has been instrumental in the success of a number of multi-million dollar companies, supervising distribution and dealer networks, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, eCommerce, team-building, and restructuring. He has also developed seed business plans and raised funding for startup companies across Canada.

Patrick Moore, NextEnergy Board Member

Dr. Patrick Moore has been a leader in the international environmental field for over 30 years. He is a founding member of Greenpeace and served for nine years as President of Greenpeace Canada and seven years as a Director of Greenpeace International. As the leader of many campaigns Dr. Moore shaped policy and helped to make Greenpeace the world's largest environmental activist organization.

In recent years, Dr. Moore has been focused on the promotion of sustainable building practices. He was a member of British Columbia government-appointed Round Table on the Environment and Economy from 1990-1994. In 1990, Dr. Moore founded and chaired the BC Carbon Project, a group that worked to develop a common understanding of climate change

As Chair of the Sustainable Forestry Committee of the Forest Alliance of BC, he leads the process of developing the "Principles of Sustainable Forestry" which have been adopted by a majority of the industry.

In 1991 Dr. Moore founded Greenspirit, a consultancy focusing on environmental policy and communications in natural resources, biodiversity, energy and climate change

In 2000, Dr. Moore published Green Spirit - Trees are the Answer, a photo-book that provides a new insight into how forests work and how they can play a powerful role in solving many of our current environmental problems.
